Shawinigan, November 2025 — Multi Bookbinding continues to modernize its production with the integration of the SRC-16 signature recognition system, supplied by Print Finishing Partners, a U.S. company specialized in print finishing automation. This German-engineered ND-03 camera system provides automated control of signature sequence and orientation, ensuring perfect accuracy throughout the binding process.
As customer expectations for quality and compliance continue to rise, this investment strengthens Multi Bookbinding’s ability to deliver fully traceable and reliable results.
With shorter print runs and multiple daily setups, maintaining consistent accuracy has become essential — exactly what the SRC-16 system provides.
Installed on our Kolbus ZU 841 binder, the SRC-16 system features 16 ND-03 industrial cameras connected to a central control unit with a 17-inch HMI touchscreen. Each camera performs image and barcode recognition within a 70 x 50 mm reading window, detecting any sequence or orientation errors instantly. The system can automatically reject or stop non-conforming products, operating at speeds of up to 20,000 cycles per hour, equivalent to 8,000 bound books per hour.
The binder can feed up to 19 sections simultaneously, ensuring both flexibility and high-speed reliability. Multi Bookbinding is already planning to implement the same technology on a second production line to enhance consistency across all operations. “This system is a real asset for our team and our clients. It strengthens our ability to deliver flawless, fully compliant books and reinforces our leadership in the Canadian bookbinding industry,” said Yvon Sauvageau, President and General Manager of Multi Bookbinding.
